About Our Team

As a second-generation Seattle Area developer, FA Johnson Development brings decades of experience, specializing in the acquisition, design, entitlement, and building of residential and mixed-use properties that meet the growing need for affordable and market-rate housing. Employing creative solutions that are environmentally sustainable, our mission is to create vibrant communities that honor the people and character of our diverse neighborhoods here in the Puget Sound area. In the spirit of collaboration and partnership, we strive for long-term benefits for all stakeholders, from community visionaries and residents to our finance, design and construction partners.

Fawn Johnson With over 30 years in urban real estate development in her hometown of Seattle, Fawn Johnson’s credo has been to build thriving communities, not just buildings. In the Seattle market, she is among the earliest, most steadfast advocates of sustainable building practices. Previously as Principal of Pryde + Johnson, and as a driver for utilizing creative design to find environmentally sound solutions, Fawn managed the acquisition, design, entitlement, and construction of every development project – with her company achieving industry-leading status in LEED® certification in Washington state. One project, Ashworth Cottages, a residential community in the Greenlake area was the first community in Washington state to be awarded Platinum LEED® status.

Fawn earned her BA in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Washington and became a licensed CPA. She then received her MBA from the UW Foster School of Business. Her mission now as the Founder of FA Johnson Development, as it has always been, is the creation of sustainably designed, vibrant communities that honor the character, history, natural spaces and livability of our treasured Seattle neighborhoods. Fawn also contributes to causes that naturally blend her expertise with other passions and interests, including serving as Treasurer on the Board of Urban Impact whose mission is to break the cycle of poverty in the Seattle Area. She has also recently joined the Board of Rwanda Rise, which exists to lift Rwandans out of poverty through training, education and microlending, and to promote healing after the genocide. She rarely leaves home without her camera or her two Labrador Retrievers, Ellie, and Brody. And in her free moments, she loves traveling, tending her urban organic garden and chickens, and spending quality time with her son and daughter.

Ben Pryde brings over a decade of experience in commercial real estate lending and development to his role as Vice President of Acquisition & Development at FA Johnson Development, a multigenerational family business focused on projects in the Seattle area. His background includes underwriting commercial real estate loans of up to $30 million across a wide range of asset types—including land development, residential, retail, office, multifamily, and co-living—with a concentration on ground-up developments in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. This strong analytical foundation across diverse property types has served as a key pillar of his professional growth.

Ben earned a Master’s in Real Estate Studies with a concentration in Development and Finance from Georgetown University in 2019. He also holds a BA in Economics and Political Science from The George Washington University. At FA Johnson Development, he is responsible for coordinating due diligence and feasibility analysis for potential sites, negotiating site acquisitions, managing underwriting throughout the development cycle, and working closely with equity and debt partners on deal structuring.

He maintains a particular interest in Seattle’s Multifamily Tax Exemption (MFTE) and Mandatory Housing Affordability (MHA) programs, focusing on how these policies can be incorporated into market-rate multifamily developments to address the housing crisis while optimizing financial returns. Additionally, Ben is engaged in analyzing the long-term financial trade-offs of homeownership versus renting—an especially relevant consideration for millennials evaluating wealth-building strategies.

Ben is also the co-founder of Places of Refuge, a nonprofit organization that transforms underutilized homes and buildings into temporary housing for families in need. He oversees volunteer coordination, collaborates with partner organizations, assists in placing families into housing, and provides ongoing support during their stays. The Places of Refuge model offers a cost-effective and sustainable blueprint for repurposing vacant residential spaces into meaningful community resources.

Having grown up immersed in the family business, some of Ben’s earliest memories involve riding excavation equipment on his parents’ project sites. Outside of work, he enjoys running, hiking, skiing, and spending time with his wife and young daughter.
