About Our Team
As a second-generation Seattle Area developer, FA Johnson Development brings decades of experience, specializing in the acquisition, design, entitlement, and building of residential and mixed-use properties that meet the growing need for affordable and market-rate housing. Employing creative solutions that are environmentally sustainable, our mission is to create vibrant communities that honor the people and character of our diverse neighborhoods here in the Puget Sound area. In the spirit of collaboration and partnership, we strive for long-term benefits for all stakeholders, from community visionaries and residents to our finance, design and construction partners.
Fawn Johnson With over 30 years in urban real estate development in her hometown of Seattle, Fawn Johnson’s credo has been to build thriving communities, not just buildings. In the Seattle market, she is among the earliest, most steadfast advocates of sustainable building practices. Previously as Principal of Pryde + Johnson, and as a driver for utilizing creative design to find environmentally sound solutions, Fawn managed the acquisition, design, entitlement, and construction of every development project – with her company achieving industry-leading status in LEED® certification in Washington state. One project, Ashworth Cottages, a residential community in the Greenlake area was the first community in Washington state to be awarded Platinum LEED® status.
Fawn earned her BA in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Washington and became a licensed CPA. She then received her MBA from the UW Foster School of Business. Her mission now as the Founder of FA Johnson Development, as it has always been, is the creation of sustainably designed, vibrant communities that honor the character, history, natural spaces and livability of our treasured Seattle neighborhoods. Fawn also contributes to causes that naturally blend her expertise with other passions and interests, including serving as Treasurer on the Board of Urban Impact whose mission is to break the cycle of poverty in the Seattle Area. She has also recently joined the Board of Rwanda Rise, which exists to lift Rwandans out of poverty through training, education and microlending, and to promote healing after the genocide. She rarely leaves home without her camera or her two Labrador Retrievers, Ellie, and Brody. And in her free moments, she loves traveling, tending her urban organic garden and chickens, and spending quality time with her son and daughter.
Ben Pryde brings a wealth of education and experience as he joins his mother, Fawn, as a partner at FA Johnson Development. Some of his earliest memories are riding excavation equipment on his parents’ project sites. He recently earned his Masters in Real Estate Studies from Georgetown University, with a double concentration in Development and Finance. His Masters’ thesis focused on the City of Seattle’s Multifamily Tax Exemption (MFTE) program and Mandatory Housing Affordability (MHA) Program, and how they can be incorporated into market rate multifamily projects that address the housing crisis and increase returns. He also earned his BA in Economics and Political Science from George Washington University. Ben’s Economics’ thesis provides a financial analysis of buying vs. renting homes as a source of long-term household wealth generation, a particularly relevant focus for the real estate community as millennials are deciding whether to purchase homes or become long term renters. Ben’s recent experience includes commercial real estate lending at both national and regional lending institutions in underwriter roles analyzing construction and stabilized projects. Collaborating closely with clients and internal decision makers, he was responsible for underwriting commercial real estate loans of up to $30,000,000 on various product types including land development, single family homes, retail, office, multifamily, and co-living projects with an emphasis on ground-up development throughout the Northeast and Mid Atlantic regions of the US. An Eagle Scout, Ben is an avid outdoorsman and spends his downtime running, hiking, fishing, boating, and ATVing as well as relaxing with his family at their Cle Elum, Washington cabin.
